Is there a real difference between hair transplants made using FUE versus those using other thechniques?
FUE has become, since year 2005 the gold standard in the hair transplantation industry, as it completely changed and improved the way we harvest the donor hair that will later be implanted into the recipient areas. FUE produces a virtually scarless, perfected result. FUE is now the best minimally invasive, micro surgical approach to hair transplantation. FUE saves your donor hair, and that is a critical aspect in the restoration of your hair and ultimately achieving your long term aesthetic goals. (back to the top)
How, exactly, can FUE save my donor hair?
Before FUE, the harvesting of hair mandatorily involved sacrificing a tremendous amount (vg. 30%) of donor hair due to the use of gruesome incisions (using single-blade or multi-blade scalpels), the use of coagulation devices (to stop bleeding), the use of internal suturing, external stapling or sutures (dissolving and non-dissolving), remendous oedema (post surgical swelling), and other now obsolete surgical operations. I recommend you avoid these outdated things. A scalpel is not needed for a hair transplantation, period. I indeed recommend to my patients that in their free time they should peruse the history of hair transplantation. It will be rather interesting technology related reading. We have some (WARNING: very graphic) surgical pictures to show you the truth in harvesting techniques (use caution, images can be shocking). (back to the top)
Why, then, so many other doctors and clinics still offer the older surgeries?
Oh well, exactly for the same reasons some companies still sell paint with lead, candy with non-approved colorings and materials with asbestos: a mixture of convenience, lack of training, a little flaw on the ethics department and with alledgedly some ignorance, (in unknown proportions). (back to the top)
The truth now. Will the “new” hair grow for a lifetime?
Exactly. The hair we will transplant on your less than perfect areas will grow naturally for a lifetime of enjoyment and undetectability.
Guaranteed. (back to the top)
How big or noticeable are the Scars from a hair transplant?
In most patients we, ourselves, can not find the resulting scars. That is why Dr. Bazan considers his FUE hair implanting procedure to be virtually scarless. In the worst scenario (if you tend to produce unsightly scars) there can be some tiny scars almost non visible (as tiny dots) hidden by the surrounding hair (thus very hard to find). On the average patient, resulting scars will be just not noticeable even under direct examination by your family doctor, spouse or friends. (back to the top)
Ok, Doc. Tell me about the pain. I hate needles.
Finally I get to answer one of my favorite questions. No painful needles, no stinging chemicals, no I.V. No gas inhalation. No excuses. No general anesthesia, no added risks. Our procedure is pain free. Period. (back to the top)
How long until I see the new hair growing?
You will see some of the hairs to immediately grow after the procedure. Then after the third month we will see some 40% of the new hair up and growing. The remaining of the transplanted FUE grafts will probably be growing after the 6th month (say, 180 days postOp). If we must talk about a final result we have to consider and accept the fact that we need to wait from one year to 18 months. In my “happiness index” the satisfaction after an FUE comes after month 7 after the procedure (say. 210 days post-Op). (back to the top)
Why is it less expensive to have my hair transplant done by Dr. Bazan?
Because he moved his practice into Mexico. Here the cost of running this type of high tech Clinic is considerably less expensive. And you, as the patient, get the direct benefit of this savings. Yet the clinic is one of the top 5 in the world, having state-of-the-art equipment, the best trained hair techs, working in a quite luxurious 600 sq meter, fen-shui designed facility. Now you can get your FUE hair grafts with the best technology while paying a fair price. (back to the top)
How can Dr.Bazan assess my case and calculate the number of hair grafts needed to obtain my goals?
The process starts by sending your photos (front, both sides, top, back) via e-mail to our clinic. Try to get pictures that really show the problem and facilitate the true examination of the case. The staff will prepare the images for Dr.Bazan’s evaluation and discussion with his FUE Team. As soon as your case is commented by DrBazan, you will get a diagnosis, and a quote in number of grafts. If you are interested in getting assistance from our staff (travel advice, best routes and airlines, hotel reservations, currency, food, weather information, visas and documentation, etc) just make sure to mention it. (back to the top)
What if I am a special case?
Make sure to express your particular condition, expectations and ultimate goals. Our staff will be glad to assist you. If you are handicapped, a referal from a burn unit or in any other way a special case, we will try to accommodate our protocols to better assist you and bring you comfort and excellency. The world is a mess right now. How safe is Mexico? How about Aguascalientes?
Mexico is the absolute safest destination to American, European, Asian and Middle East patients. Mexico does not participate in any global conflict and had a quite strong standing on neutrality. Mexico has no enemies. Everybody loves Mexico and we treat everybody well. Welcome to a peaceful place, welcome to Mexico. The clinic is located in Aguascalientes (the tiniest State of the 32 members of the Federation), and currently the safest city, according to the World Bank. Aguascalientes (means “hot waters) is located in a beautiful plateau high in the mountains, surronded by pine trees and hot water springs. Sky is always blue and the weather is mild both in summer and winter. The city is extremely clean and friendly. English is spoken in major Hotels and in our facility. The regular taxi ride (take a red cab only) inside town limits runs for about US$4 or less). From the airport to the Hotel the private taxi ride (take the yellow/white cabs only) is about $25. The hotel staff will be of great help recommending ways to spend your free time in Aguascalientes. (back to the top)

How can the donor hair follicles can be obtained without a scalpel or a regular dermatological skin biopsy punch?
Thanks to a development brought circa 1999 by a doctor from Australia, the follicular units (say a family of hair roots tightly growing together, forming a “unit”) can be now extracted without a scalpel or other gruesome surgical instrument. The micro tool used (and this may vary from doctor to doctor) is called a Follicular Extractor and in spite of resembling a dermatological biopsy punch, it is not. A follicular extractor (say, an FUE extractor) is a rather tiny oblong foot print cinlindroid with a length of 2.8mm and can be as wide as 0.75 of one millimiter (written as 0.7mm). Here is an image to compare tools. The ones Dr.Carl Bazan uses are made out of surgical titanium and have tip made of gold, a unique and extremely micro surgery tool that provides with a smooth and transection free extraction of the donor hair. (back to the top)
General anesthesia, going under, twillight, I.V. fluids, gas, regional anesthesia, local anesthesia, tumescent?
The basic and strongest life-risk in a hair transplantation is the anesthesia. General anesthesia, twillight anesthesia and strong sedation are absolutely unnecessary for a hair transplantation procedure. In the opinion of Dr. Bazan it is wrong to use other than Klein Tumescent anesthesia (in California some call it “numbing”, and in Canada they call it “freezing”). It is provided with a 32g needle (smallest, thinnest, as pain free as available) after topical anesthetics and physical cooling. The tumescent fluid is called a super-Klein and has lidocaine 2% (the one your local dentist uses) diluted in a base of saline solution (0.9%NaCl, perfectly chilled at 4 degrees celsius) with sodium bicarbonate (to take the “sting” away), bupivacaine hcl and epinephrine to greatly prolong its pain eliminating / bleeding preventor effects (quite a synergic action). No I.V.s, no anesthetic gases, no “stories”, no excuses. (back to the top)
What if after my transplant grows, I want more hair?
Make sure to always keep in touch with Dr.Bazan and the Clinic Sfaff. We will help you monitor your progress, as to determine what looks great or not. If you decide you want more hair, the Clinic will always have a special treatment (cost efficiency wise) for a return patient. Repeat FUE patients may qualify to stay in the VIP guest quarters, if there is space availability. (back to the top)
